Super Demolition carries out demolition in Burwood under a current Demolition Licence and a current Asbestos Removal Licence: house and garage knockdowns, partial demolition, commercial strip-outs and asbestos removal. Burwood Council is the consent authority for every address in postcode 2134. The site assessment and the written quote cost nothing, and every enquiry is answered within 24 hours.
Burwood sits in postcode 2134, and Burwood Council assesses demolition at every address inside it. There is no boundary to settle first, which is not true of several suburbs near here.
The council area itself is one of the smallest local government areas in New South Wales, and that shapes the work. Densely built means neighbours are close, the notification list is short but genuinely affected, and vehicle access is the first thing we assess rather than an afterthought.
Jack owns the business and is usually the one who walks the block with you. Super Demolition is family owned and managed, with over 30 years of experience behind the work. Before accepting any quote, ours included, ask to see a current Demolition Licence and a current Asbestos Removal Licence, and confirm staff and contractors comply with WorkCover requirements to AS 2601-2001. The rest of our credentials sit with our residential demolition service.
The site assessment and the written quote are free, and every enquiry gets an answer within 24 hours. Call 0455 888 819 to book a time on site.
There are two approval routes in NSW. A complying development certificate is issued by a private certifier against a fixed code, and nothing is weighed up: the land and the proposal either meet every standard in it or they do not. A development application goes to Burwood Council, which assesses it on merit, notifies neighbours where its controls require it, and can approve with conditions or refuse.
Here the certificate is the majority route. Across the demolitions recorded for Burwood Council, 57.7% went through as complying development. Part of the reason sits on the heritage map, because 14.2% of the local government area is mapped as conservation area, and conservation mapping is what usually closes the certificate route. The Inner West Council area alongside Burwood carries 31.8% conservation mapping and puts only 15.2% of its demolitions through as complying development. Same city, same legislation, very different odds.
Your own block still decides your own case: a standalone knockdown on unconstrained land commonly qualifies, while a demolition tied to a dual occupancy or a subdivision generally does not.
What keeps a structure from coming down in the wrong order is written down before anyone arrives. Every job runs on a Work Method Statement prepared for that building, and our staff and contractors comply with WorkCover requirements to Australian Standard 2601-2001, which covers the demolition of structures. Sequence, temporary support and exclusion zones are settled on paper before a machine is unloaded.
Burwood has a recent reason to take that seriously. In January 2025 a building at 52-56 Railway Parade partially collapsed while it was being demolished. SafeWork NSW attended and the ABC covered it. What caused it is not ours to guess at; the investigation belongs to SafeWork NSW. On a tight commercial frontage, the method statement is the job.
None of this is yours to chase:
A full knockdown takes the house, garage, sheds, fencing, paving and slab. A partial demolition removes a rear wing or an upper level while the remainder stays standing, braced and protected. In a centre built this densely the job is as often a shop or an office tenancy as a dwelling, and our commercial demolition service stages a strip-out so the tenancies either side keep trading.
If asbestos appears once the linings come off, it does not turn into a second contract with a second contractor. It comes out under our own licence, and our asbestos removal service sets out how that is documented.
What the building is made of. Whether asbestos is in it. How a machine and a truck reach the block on a narrow street. How much material can be recycled instead of tipped. A square metre rate hides every one of those, which is why we do not publish one and will not price a job over the phone.
We look first and quote after. The written quote itemises works, approvals and disposal, and that figure is what you pay: no hidden fees, no variations. Holding a written quote from another contractor? We will beat it.
We take demolition, excavation and asbestos work across Inner West Sydney, including the suburbs closest to Burwood:
On quote, and only after someone has stood on the property. The assessment and quote cost nothing, the quote covers approvals as well as works, and nothing is added later.
The partial collapse at 52-56 Railway Parade during demolition in January 2025 was attended by SafeWork NSW and reported by the ABC. What made it fail is for that investigation to establish rather than for us to speculate about. The general answer is that demolition failures come out of sequence and support, which is why the Work Method Statement is written first.
Only where the land and the proposal meet the code exactly. Send us the street and number and we will tell you which route is realistic before you spend anything.
AS 2601-2001, the demolition of structures. Our staff and contractors comply with WorkCover requirements to that standard, and your Work Method Statement is built around it.

Burwood is the rare inner western address where the fast approval route is open more often than it is shut, and the honest work is establishing that your block is one of them before anything is lodged. Send us the street and number, and the pathway, the asbestos position and the written price come back together. Call 0455 888 819 or email info@superdemolition.com.au.
